The NCC Benevolent Fund (the Fund) has today launched a campaign encouraging the public to help them search for retired employees from the caravan industry and make them aware that they may be eligible for financial help.

The NCC Benevolent Fund is a registered charity that has been supporting people who have worked or currently work in the caravan industry, when they are facing a financial crisis. Although the Fund has been in existence since 1976,  few in the industry are aware of it and what it can do to help.

The Fund is asking the public to help spread the word. They need more people to think about anyone, who has worked in any sector of the caravan industry and could benefit from a one-off grant.

The Fund was established with the aim of helping anyone connected to the caravan industry who has found themselves for various reasons in challenging circumstances or experiencing financial difficulties. Since then the fund has helped with grants for people like Craig* who needed help with a funeral bill after his wife passed away, or Peter* who needed a mobility scooter when he lost mobility through a sudden illness.

Benevolent Fund Manager, Melanie Day said ‘There are too many retired people out there from our industry, who are suffering in silence. The Fund is there to help those that have contributed to the success of the caravan industry throughout their working lives and now, through no fault of their own they are facing the daily struggles of financial hardship. With so many changes in the benefit system and increases in private and social rent, pensioners are at particular risk of poverty and hardship. We are here to help relieve some of that suffering, ensuring that they are not living without essential items.’

Melanie adds ‘we are urging people to think about friends and family, and if they know someone that is eligible, refer them to the Fund. Our support is free and confidential, and every application is individually assessed’

Please note the Fund does not offer long term grants or cash payments.
